It all started with a Memorial Day weekend…

Liesl came up Memorial day weekend this year, for a job interview. Which got me to thinking about the circumstances under which Kyle and I made the move to Utah.

It all started with a Memorial Day weekend….Kyle and I took our baby Ethan on a road trip to come up and visit Laurel & Roine and their kids for the weekend. And while we were here visiting, Laurel was telling us about some inexpensive condos in the area. We actually went over and checked one of them out since Laurel knew the lady that lived there. And that got Kyle and I to thinking, and talking about how inexpensive houses in Utah were compared to houses in southern California. And we thought it would be so much easier to buy something in Utah.

Well the weekend came to an end and we returned home and back to normal daily life. While Kyle was at work he happened to mention the ‘idea’ of moving to Utah to Dave, his boss. (Keep in mind that we had not made ANY plans, we were just kicking the idea around.) And Dave, just blew up at the idea and fired Kyle on the spot. Not to mention that he told Kyle that his worst mistakes EVER were #1 to marry me, and #2 to have our baby (I have never forgotten that). I should also mention that Kyle was Dave’s ONLY employee (or there might have been one other part time guy working there). So he just went and fired his only full time employee because of a trivial comment that Kyle made about kicking the idea of moving to Utah around.

Kyle finished out the day’s work, then came home to tell me what had happened. So now here we were in an apartment, and our lease was going to be up in just a few short weeks. Liesl was done living with us and wanted to move on and do something else. Kyle now had NO job and therefore there was NO way we were going to be able to afford $1125/month rent on our own. So after a lot of talking and a lot of thinking and a lot of praying, we decided what have we got to lose? Let’s move to Utah! Dad bought us a bunch of boxes, and paid for the rental moving truck and we got it loaded up and mid-June 2003 we moved to Utah. We stayed with Laurel and Roine for a couple of weeks while Kyle found a job and we found a place to live and we’ve been here ever since!

Happy Birthday Kyle

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KYLE!

Wasn’t my hubby such a cute little boy?

He works so hard to pay the bills and pay off debt and so that I can stay at home with our munchkins. He’s an AWESOME daddy, and uncle….he’s just great with kids. And I just love him so much. 🙂 Happy Birthday Babe!

Tyra’s Kindergarten Promotion

Tyra was promoted from Kindergarten to the first grade today.

CIMG3319

She had to be a goofball as she passed us during the procession. I think she was just posing for the camera, or maybe her excitement needed to just jump out!

During the program Tyra’s class sang this cute little song to the tune of the “Adam’s Family” theme song:

Duh-duh-duh-duh, click, click

Duh-duh-duh-duh, click, click

Duh-duh-duh-duh

Duh-duh-duh-duh

Duh-duh-duh-duh, click, click

We learned our ABC’s

And counting 1, 2, 3’s

And now we know all these,

The kindergarten class.

And we learned how to share

And we learned how to care,

Just ask us if you dare,

The kindergarten class.

Duh-duh-duh-duh, click, click

Duh-duh-duh-duh, click, click

Duh-duh-duh-duh

Duh-duh-duh-duh

Duh-duh-duh-duh, click, click

It seems we’ve just begun,

And now we’re almost done,

This year’s been so much fun!

The kindergarten class.

But we must say so long,

With this our little song,

But we’ll be back fore long,

The kindergarten class.

Duh-duh-duh-duh, click, click

Duh-duh-duh-duh, click, click

Duh-duh-duh-duh

Duh-duh-duh-duh

Duh-duh-duh-duh, click, click

Here’s her class singing their song as Mrs Spaulding leads them.

And here she is, with her kindergarten teacher, Mrs Spaulding and Miss Joy, the teacher’s aid. 🙂

She is so excited and she totally thought that when the promotion was over she would get to go to first grade. She is totally confused to find out she won’t get to start first grade until next August. 🙂

Where’s the “Tooth Fairy”?

We’ve had visits from Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny for years, but now we’ll have our first visit from the Tooth Fairy as well! Tyra lost her first tooth! And the tooth next to it is also wiggly so it will be falling out soon, too.

Ethan still hasn’t lost any teeth and he is quite upset that Tyra lost one before he did. I’ve had to tell him that his teeth WILL fall out, when they are ready to.
