New Dress / The Comic Stylings of Ethan and Tyra

Some of the ward’s ladies came over today to make jam, and one of them (Sister Wozab) was working on making dresses.  She explained she was creating dresses for some local girls who were putting on a play about Dr Suess, and she described some of the dresses she’s made.  Currently, she was working on a “Cindy-Lou Who” dress, red with some colourful frills.  She offered to let Tyra try the dress on, and Tyra was really thrilled to put it on.  After she showed it off, Sister Wozab told Tyra that she could have it!  Tyra wore it for the rest of the evening.

I took the kids to PetSmart to purchase some new fish and other supplies, and in the car, Tyra and Ethan were having a discussion about the dress.  Tyra had a hard time remembering the whole name of the dress, at first.

Tyra: It’s my ‘Cindy-Loua’ dress.
Ethan (correcting her): Who.
Tyra: Me.
Ethan: No, it’s ‘Who.’
Tyra: It’s mine. It’s my ‘Cindy-Loua’ dress.
Ethan: No, Tyra, it’s ‘Cindy-Lou Who.’
Tyra: That’s what I said!

I couldn’t help but feel that Tyra’s dress was perfect for playing First Base.

Our great-uncle died

P1010541

My nana’s big brother, our Uncle Teddy, died on Thursday.  I don’t remember too much about him (only met him a few times when I was young, and recently when his son Ralph died), but I hear he was a fun person, and loved entertaining people with his ventriloquism.  It makes me sad to see that generation go.  Now we have our wonderful Aunt Gail, and their brother Monroe (whom I’ve never met, but heard stories of), left from that generation!

Anyway, I heard he died in the morning, but don’t know more details.  If anyone knows, help us update out family history site with the time and place, ok? 🙂

Out on a Limb

We went over to my mother’s house to finish raiding the peach tree and get as many apples off of her apple tree as possible. Since the Apple tree was so large (the tops were more than two stories up) and the branches were so scattered with twigs, it was difficult to get the ladder close to the main branches, so I spent most of my time bracing the ladder whilst Rebecca climbed it to get as many apples as she could reach. After clearing those apples out, she decided brave the tree and step off the ladder to reach those other groups of apples. Once we have pictures posted, I’ll be sure to add some of them. Pictures are now up! 🙂

She plans on making different jam and pie filling out of these apples, which sounds exciting!
