You got that!

Sitting with the three year old, trying to get her to sleep, I tell her, “I don’t want to be sitting here at 11:30 at night. I want to be sleeping!”
Kyle responded, “I want to be sleeping too!”
I answered saying, “Neither of us are getting what we want.”
Kyle then said, “If that’s the case, then I want to be cleaning barf in the bathroom in the middle of the night!”
I told him, “Well, you got that!”

Ethan’s Priesthood Ordination and Seth’s Baby Blessing

Today was a big day for our family. It is the first time that we were able to combine special ordinances for the kids. We had originally talked about waiting on the baby blessing until closer to when Wendy would be having her baby, so that mom and dad could come up for the baby blessing and then travel just a little further to see Wendy’s baby. But when we realized that Ethan is turning 12 and that means he would be receiving the priesthood, and that that would be something the grandparents might want to be here for, we decided to plan the baby blessing around Ethan’s birthday and ordination.

My parents drove up from California, and Laurel and Roine brought their family and Granny out for the occasion. This is also the first week since Seth was born that he and I have gone to church. Kyle gave Seth his blessing during sacrament meeting. Thankfully Seth slept and was nice and quiet during the blessing. During the third hour of church, Kyle and Dad left priesthood after opening exercises to collect us for the ordination. I went to collect the rest of our kiddos so they could be there too. I thought it would be nice for them to be there to see Ethan be ordained, so that they have his example to look up to.

After church we came home and had a late lunch/early dinner. We had sandwich rolls and lunch meats and cheeses so everyone could assemble their own sandwiches. We had chips and stuff for making Italian sodas. Laurel brought out frog eye salad, and everything was good. We also had cake and ice cream and we just hung out.

The girls decided they were going to attack Alex, and he was a good sport about it.

When the girls were tired of climbing all over him, they decided to do his hair instead.

Laurel and Roine and their family took Granny and left early, because they had a meeting to get to. Then Kyle took Ethan to his very first Stake Priesthood meeting. 🙂

Liesl wasn’t able to come out this weekend so I didn’t get any posed pictures of the family or of Kyle and I and the boys. In fact I didn’t take pictures of Ethan at all. I did pose Seth to take pictures of him in his blessing suit though.

Girl Scout Cookie Kickoff Party

Girl Scout cookie sales are just around the corner, and so the Girl Scout community had a party to get the girls excited for it. I signed up to help and registered Tyra, Dinah and Chloe to attend. There were crafts and games, and dancing.

We had pizza for dinner, and the girls each got a cute cookie party patch (it’s all about the patch for me 😉 ). They also had a photo booth set up, so I got a picture of my girls.

Are you nuts?

As I was sitting in my room feeding Seth this afternoon, I saw out of the corner of my eye this streak run past my door into the bathroom. It looked to be about Lydia’s height, so I called her to me. She said she had to pee, but when she was done she came in and my suspicions were confirmed. She was stark naked. This is how our conversation went:

Me:Where are your clothes?
Lydia:My Clothes? (Like she hadn’t noticed they were missing)
Me: Why are you naked?
Lydia: I took my undies off.
Me: Where are the rest of your clothes?
Lydia: My clothes are on the couch.
Me: Why are they on the couch? They are supposed to be on your body.
Lydia: My body? On my bottom?
Me: Well your bottom is part of your body.
Lydia: Can I go in the pool?
Me: What?! What pool?
Lydia: The pink pool. Can I go in the pool on the grass?
Me: What grass? All the grass is covered in snow!
Lydia: I want to play in the pool.
Me: Are you nuts?!?!
Lydia: I’m not yummy! (Apparently she thought I meant nuts as in peanuts….)

At this I just laughed out loud….

Ethan’s 12th Birthday

Today is Ethan’s 12 birthday, and we had such a crazy evening. First of all, the girls and I had our weekly Girl Scout meeting, then we had a window of time to celebrate in before I had to be at a Boy Scout committee meeting. So we decided ahead of time that we would be buying pizza for his birthday dinner, instead of making it. During Girl Scouts, Kyle took the non-Girl scouts to go pick up the pizza. When they got back the girls had all left and we sent all the kids to the table for dinner. I thought it would be fun to put the birthday candles on the pizza, since we decided to not have a cake tonight, but to have it on the weekend when everyone comes out for his ordination.

I did make him a cookie pizza though. For the record, trying to use chocolate syrup to write “Happy Bday Ethan” was not a good idea. It’s quite runny and comes out quite fast, and then it all just ran together so that you can’t tell what I wrote. I tried to use m&m’s to make the words a little clearer, but it was still quite messy.

After dinner we gave Ethan his present. Kyle bought it before Christmas, and I think he had originally intended to give it to him for Christmas, but Ethan found out back in November that Kyle had bought it. Kyle thought it would be funny to have it just not appear at Christmas time, considering Ethan would have been expecting it. So we were mean parents and made him wait until his birthday before receiving it.
