FHE #27

The Sacrament

Opening song: Family Night

Opening Prayer: Ethan

Scripture: Matthew 26:26-28 “And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.”

Lesson: Tonight we talked about how when we are baptized we are washed clean, and the sacrament is a renewal of our baptismal covenants. We discussed the covenants we make at baptism, and talked about how each week we have the opportunity to repent and partake of the sacrament and become clean again. Each week we can take the sacrament and start fresh.

Object Lesson: I passed out York peppermint patties, and we broke them in half. I pointed out how very white the inside is, yet the longer I hold it in my hand the dirtier that white becomes. And I likened this to what happens to us as the week progresses. As the days go by in the week we make mistakes and get dirty, but on Sunday we have the opportunity to repent and take the sacrament and it’s like getting a new peppermint patty and we get to start over again. 🙂

Closing Prayer: Daddy
